Support group/FPNO

Support group will be held Monday, May 14, 2012. Child care will be provided to those who preregister. In order to make sure we have enough help we need a good number of children. We look forward to seeing both old and new faces. We have such a great group of families. Check us out. Even if you don't feel like you are in need of support at this moment, it is always nice to meet other families who share your journey in life!!

FPNO YIPPEEE!!!! we are back! with Spring Break and the Springtime Hill Climb race I have missed jhanging out with the kiddos!! So, hurry do not wait any longer, register your kiddos for Friday, May 18, 2012 for FPNO. We will have dinner play games do crafts watch a movie and have FUN FUN FUN!!!

Dropz of Hope is excited for the new partnership with Radiant Young Adult Group. They will be joining us in various activities and events. Also, looking forward to the group from Radiant who has generously volunteered to take on meals and snacks for FPNO. We are looking forward to working more closely with all of you! A special thank you goes out to Gina LeFleur for rounding up such a fabulous group of young people and for arranging the dinner crew!!

Dropz of Hope would like to thank Nick and Jan Ross and their community group for the generous donation to contribute to our diaper and baby supplies. Several families have been served through your generosity and many more will come! THANK YOU!!

Dropz of Hope would also like to thank Mark and Candy Cooper, Howard and Teresa Martz, Steve and Lorraine Hansen, Garry and Linda Cashatt, Paul and Claudia Smith and the rest of their community group for the renovation creation organization and completion of the most incredible clothing closet Dropz of Hope could ask for! We also would like to thank Pastor Gary Pilcher for allowing this team to be creative and Ron Blair for all the labor and for saying yes to our new room! Words can not express the blessing this new space will be to the many families we serve!

If you are in need of clothing, coats etc for your foster children. Please contact Angela Albers @ 515-681-5624 we have various sizes and might be able to fill your needs! Also I have been offered a toddler bed and a couple twin beds (not bunks) so give me a call if you are in need of these items for you foster children.

If you are a foster adoptive family and would like to get to know other families like yours. Please consider joining our group that meets on the 2nd Monday evening of each month. We do have child care provided for those who pre-register. Contact Angela Albers @ 515-681-5624 for more info.

Foster Parents Night Out

Foster Parents Night Out will be held on the third Friday of each month from 6-9 p.m. Our next FPNO will be May 18, 2012. All participants must be pre-registered with Angela Albers before May 14, 2012. This event is open to all the children who live in the foster/kinship home, biological, foster and adopted. Dropz of Hope serves all foster, adoptive, kinship and relative placement families! We will have games, activities, crafts and dinner for all children.

Adoptive/pre-Adoptive Family Support Group

Angela Albers co-facilitates this monthly support group with Brian Walker, Post Adoption Specialist from Four Oaks. This group meets on the 2nd Monday of every month. We are open to any family who is in the process of adopting or has already adopted. All forms of adopting families are welcome! Dropz of Hope provides childcare each month, Juanita Fernandez is the child care coordinator for this monthly group. We do charge a small fee for the child care, $2 per child with a $10 family maximum. We do require pre-registration for this group if you are planning to bring children.

My Heart

I am motivated and moved by my faith to make a difference in the lives of foster families. To hear their stories. To find the gaps and fill the needs where they are. My heart beats to be a hand extended to the hurting children. A good friend of mine said he believes that foster children are the orphans of today. What a powerful statement, the depths of those words moved me from wanting to make a difference to acting on that want. I attended a conference in 2008, the Key note speaker said something that motivated me to step out and fly with this project. If you are going to do something, do it with EXCELLENCE, or don't do it at all. I am opening my heart to God and allowing Him to direct my steps. I want to be clear that although I am motivated by my faith, my mission is not to share my faith or to 'convert' others to my faith. I deeply desire to fill the gaps where they are and come along side foster families in partnership to build better futures for hurting children. In order for you to understand my mission you must understand my heart. Now that I have shared my heart with you. Lets begin our journey...ONE DROP AT A TIME!
